This Time Next Year

Hi everyone!

Last night I was watching a British television programme hosted by Davina McCall called ‘This Time Next Year’.  The programme features people that want to have achieved something by this time next year, for example to be able to read or to have had a baby.  The programme then catches up with the people one year later to see whether they have achieved what they wanted to.  Watching this got me thinking about all the things that I would like to have achieved by this time next year.  At the moment, due to anxiety, my life is very limited and so I have a list of things that I would like to have managed to do.  I thought I would share them on my blog so that I can look back in a years time and see whether I have managed to achieve them.

This time next year, I want:

  1. To have overcome emetophobia.
  2. For my anxiety to have significantly decreased.
  3. To be able to drive around where I live on my own.
  4. To be able to be a passenger in a car on A roads and motorways.
  5. To be able to go out and into town on my own.
  6. To be able to go on the train.
  7. To have a part-time job.
  8. To be able to go and stay with a friend or family.
  9. To still be blogging.
  10. To be happy and thriving.

Most of the things I want to achieve are related to my anxiety and mental health (which is something I will talk about more in future posts).  I look forward to looking back on this in a years time to see whether I have managed to achieve my goals.

  1. That’s amazing! I hope you’re able to accomplish everything you want to. Even just one or two is a big step!! Sending you so much support from the States <3
    All my goals are language related, like getting better at Japanese or learn German or ASL, but to also make blogging friends so we can help each other grow.

  2. Anxiety is tough. Mental health goals should always come first and I think the fact you know this is a huge thing. ☺️ I really wish you all the best and look forward to following your progress!

    This time next year? I hope to be stronger (I think I mean mentally too).

  3. My goals for the next year is to continue running my busy nursery and fill it -currently running at about 75% full. (It’s a big nursery!)

    Convince husband that baby number 2 is a good idea, even though I have a 50% chance of getting ill again

  4. I also have anxiety so definitely have some of the same goals. I can go places by myself just fine, but if I’m with others, not good. It really does limit you a lot. I’d love to hear what steps you take to try and control it, in a future post maybe? Meditation helps but I may need to get some medication for traveling and such. Anyways, good luck with your goals!! Just take it slow and easy 😉

  5. That programme sounds so interesting – will have to check it out. Anxiety is pretty tough – mine affects my breathing which is so horrible. Best of luck with your goals – I really hope you are able to accomplish them. And you should definitely be proud of yourself even if you accomplish a few of them from your list!


  6. I really hope you manage to achieve your goals! I haven’t really set any for next year, I like to set smaller goals as I think they’re more achievable but by next year I am hoping to be nearly ready to start looking for my own house with my partner so that could be one! I absolutely love the programme you’re talking about but I always seem to forget about it and miss it, it’s amazing though!

  7. It’s pretty cool that there is a TV show that features people’s vision and their mission to accomplish goals! Good luck with all of your goals within the next year! Remember to take small steps and I’m rooting for your success!

  8. Excellent goals! Looking at things a year at a time is a beneficial method. Most worthwhile endeavors take a significant amount of time to accomplish.

    My goals:
    Pass parts 2 & 3 of the enrolled agent tests (has to do with tax preparation).

    Continue building my tax business.

    Lose 30 pounds. And improve my stamina. (Chronic fatigue syndrome makes this a bit challenging.)

  9. You have created quite a large achievement list there for yourself. Have you tried “Mindfulness” to help with your anxiety. I found it very good. There are a number of apps out there that are very good to get started. The one I found most helpful is called “Insight Timer”. Take care of yourself 😍
